Job Description

Please note that this position will be based in Chicago, IL OR Indianapolis, IN. Relocation assistance may be offered to those that qualify.

The Associate Dean of Campus Nursing Education, under direction of the SON Dean, is responsible for facilitating the effective delivery of nursing education at the PG campus-based nursing programs through working with campus Directors of Nursing, faculty, campus leadership and staff. Provides guidance to campus DONs to assure standards for nursing program and faculty performance are met. Works with appropriate depts to assure that DONs and faculty are providing effective education and achieving the program's goals, including NCLEX performance and clinical standards. The Assoc Dean has a "dotted line" accountability to the SVP of Academic Ops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the campus nursing programs by providing leadership and ongoing management. Participates in the hiring, training, evaluation and retention of DONs and faculty. Success is measured by program, faculty and student outcomes. Assists with resolving issues related to nursing standards.

  • Oversees DON and faculty orientation in collaboration es with campus leadership. Provides direction for DON professional development activities.

  • Responsible to assure the effective coordination between the nursing education programs and other campus departments, including nursing faculty and staff participating in campus academic and student support.

  • Responsible for the campus nursing programs participation in quality monitoring processes, including measures to assure nursing program compliance with nursing regulatory, accreditation and professional standards

  • Participates in development, implementation, evaluation and revision of policies and practices related to the campus nursing education programs

  • Collaborates with the SON and campus leadership to plan for new locations, programs and assists with managing changes for campus nursing programs

  • Participates in coordinating campus nursing faculty development and recognition events, facilitates faculty participation in committees and student support organizations (honor society and student nurse association)

  • Assures that campus nursing faculty are aware of and have access to resources that support their professional performance and success, including opportunities to advance academic education and participate in activities related to the profession of nursing

  • Supports campus activities to support student enrollment, retention and placement

  • As assigned will represent campus programs in events with Boards of Nursing, professional organizations and interdepartmental projects related to campus nursing programs

  • Provides guidance for communication activities that relate to campus nursing programs, including, but not limited to, the campus nursing meetings, publications, and other program reports

  • As assigned will represent the campus nursing programs at external events. Collaborates with campus leadership to promote campus initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing, nursing education, leadership, organizational development, higher education, etc

  • 5-7 yrs related experience

  • Management experience with faculty and mgmt positions

  • Proven record of relevant professional accomplishments

  • Project Mgmt skills

  • RN, active license and minimum MSN

  • Proficient in working in an online environment

  • PC skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project Mgmt to perform essential job functions

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Able to work independently with light supervision

  • Organized and effective in managing multiple levels of activity in a dynamic environment

  • Demonstrates mature judgment in complex situations

  • Possesses problem solving and decision-making abilities

  • Team player; able to work with multiple stakeholders, has a solution oriented approach

  • Able to set and accomplish priorities in an effective manner

  • Engages cooperation across teams

  • Must be willing to travel on a regular basis to multiple locations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business Process Management experience

  • Leadership position in higher education with faculty oversight

  • DNP or PhD

  • RN License in Iowa or compact state
