Position Overview

Designs, develops and executes academic policies and programs for the college. Develops strategies to achieve educational goals and objectives. Determines scheduling of courses and recommends implementation of additional courses. Participates in activities of faculty committees, and oversees the departmental budget. Establishes academic goals for the department to achieve and maintain high standards in academic and teaching processes. Serves as liaison officer with accrediting agencies which evaluate academic programs. Initiates academic integrity and quality education in the college by articulating University policy and procedure to department or college. Responsible for maintaining effective communication between students and faculty within the college. Responsible for hiring faculty members, evaluating staff, fundraising, budgeting, and setting academic rules and policies.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions

Support and report to the Dean of College of Business in all the leadership and administrative functions in the College. Collaborate with assistant deans, directors, department chairs, faculty, staff, students, alumni, employers, and other stakeholders on planning, executing, and achieving the college mission and goals, strategic initiatives, resource acquisition activities, and various key events. Primary responsibilities include AACSB accreditation management, data collection and analysis, responding to surveys, internal and external report production, faculty management and development, committee management, IT and facility management, achieving program ranking, center and institute management, improving research and teaching quality, liaising with internal and external offices and organizations, and being the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the College of Business. Provide administrative oversight of leadership and coordination in areas of academic program and curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, budget, finance, marketing, student and faculty recruitment, stakeholder satisfaction, and other essential and emerging functions in the College.


AACSB Accreditation Management. Keep track of and manages the operational aspects of AACSB accreditation standards including strategic management and innovation, participant standards for students, faculty, and professional staff, learning and teaching, academic and professional engagement for business accreditation. Respond to AACSB surveys. Supervise and work with the faculty coordinator for Digital Measures to develop system interfaces, measures, data input, data processing, and report generation to meet the various accreditation standards. Work with the faculty to produce and manage impact measures for mission alignment, academics, teaching, education programs, research, and community involvement. Develop databases to store and maintain required data and design analytical procedures to monitor trends to predict problems. Alert the Dean about potential issues and suggest solutions to address them. Attend accreditation seminars, work with AACSB staff, organize events for accreditation visits, and support the Dean for various accreditation initiatives. Collect data and information to produce AACSB reports.

Business Analytics for Strategies, Control, and Operation. Acquire required data and apply multidimensional analytics to support the identification, development, implementation, and control of the strategic goals of the College such as enrollment growth, developing programs and majors for emerging market demands, identifying market niches that match the resources and characters of UCO, identifying fundraising opportunities, building a strong corporate affiliation program, developing engaging academic and social events to connect with stakeholders, formulating communication and marketing strategies, and supporting the production of annual College of Business report to stakeholders.

Faculty Management and Development. Work with the Academic Affairs Office to keep track of faculty evaluation schedules in different categories. Inform the Dean, Department Chairs, and the faculty regarding faculty performance evaluations, timelines, and deadlines. Work with the executive assistant in the College to collect and organize faculty dossiers. Support the Dean to handle irregularities in faculty performance evaluations and resolve problems. Support the Dean to manage and evaluate research/service/administration reassigned time proposals, high-impact awards, internal and external grant proposals, funding requests for learning, teaching, research, industrial project activities, etc. in the College, the University, or other organizations. Identify effective mechanisms to develop a faculty portfolio to support the goals and strategies of the College.

Committee Management. Organize, staff, and maintain various boards, councils, and committees in the College. Work with the executive assistant, the Dean, and committee chairs to maintain and update a central repository of committee information such as membership list, meeting schedules, charges, agendas, minutes, and supporting documents in the centralized file server of the College. Follow the guidelines in the Faculty Handbook to ensure the smooth operation of committees such as setting up meeting schedules, establishing goals and tasks, recording closing and transition tasks for the semester; and act as the Dean’s designee when the Dean is not available. Inform the faculty about meeting schedules, agendas, and minutes of committees whenever appropriate. Work with different stakeholders to coordinate the activities among committees to achieve the common goals for the College. Work with various offices on campus to provide college representatives to university level committees and work units.

IT and Facility Management. Supervise the IT team and work with the Computing Technology Sub-Committee of the Faculty Council for IT systems, IT equipment, and lab management in the College. Work with various parties in the College and on campus for facility management. Develop budgets and work with the Dean for initiating IT and facility projects to meet academic and administrative needs.

Program Rankings. Identify program ranking opportunities, submit applications, collect and submit data for ranking surveys. Work with the Dean to formulate strategies and tactics to achieve program rankings.

Improvement for Research and Teaching. Manage all teaching and research resources such as SAP contract, WRDS contract, professional sales lab, and financial lab. Work with directors and department chairs to improve teaching and research of the College by identifying obstacles and challenges, and suggesting possible solutions.

Center and Institute Management. Manage and coordinate the activities of existing and future centers and institutes in the College. Work with the Dean to develop new centers and institutes in the College to create stakeholder values and impactful engagement in areas such as emerging business research, global entrepreneurship, multidisciplinary studies, and technology agility.

Liaising with Internal and External Offices and Organizations. Support the Dean for communication and interaction with internal and external offices and organizations. Act as the primary designee of the Dean when the Dean is not available.

Leadership and Coordination Oversight. Provide coordination to assistant deans, directors, and department chairs in areas of academic program management, student management, alumni management, scheduling management, budget management, etc. and resolve conflicts to achieve the optimums for the entire College. Support the Dean and assist the budget analyst for finance and budget management.

Chief Operating Officer of the College of Business. Coordinate and implement all relevant college and university policies and practices for safety, security, personnel, physical environment, work environment, and others. Formulate policies for the College as requested by the Dean. Collect and maintain all relevant policies of the College and University in the College file server. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dean.

Qualifications/Experience Required

Appropriate profession accomplishments and credentials.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred

  • Earned research doctorate degree in an academic discipline in the College of business.

  • At least 5 years as a full-time faculty member.

  • Has the Scholarly Academics status per AACSB faculty qualification standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in various strategic and administrative functions.

  • Demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, services, and community engagement.

  • Has the status of a tenured faculty member.

  • Has the status of a full professor.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

This position officially supervises the Head of IT Staff, Faculty Coordinator of Digital Measures, and functionally directs the Coordinator of Marketing and Development in the College.

Physical Demands
