The Dean of Academic Affairs is responsible for overall academic administration at the campus. Hire and supervise the Department Chair, Registrar, Program Director, and faculty. Determine scheduling wheels. Manage departmental budgets and the Academic department payroll. Responsible for retention of academic staff, faculty, and students. Ensure academic advising is completed. Participate in curriculum development and other ongoing academic issues for the university. Coordinate with other departments to implement academic polices and procedures set by Vice President for Academic Affairs. Ensure student satisfaction at campus level.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor Last Day of Attendance (LDA) and conduct retention calls and emails to students

  • Respond to student calls and emails for assistance and academic advising

  • Respond to faculty requests and concerns and continue calls and emails for faculty recruitment in process

  • Take action on requests and questions from other Departments, other campus Academic staff, VP and VP for Academic Affairs.

  • Monitor retention, including academic team teaming and campus LDA meeting (FA, Registrar, VP)

  • Meet with VP for planning and feedback

  • Prepare Dean's Report for VP for Academic Affairs

  • Conduct classroom observations as needed

  • Be available for faculty assistance and student academic advising when classes are in session

  • Continue scheduling and faculty recruitment in process, including faculty credentialing

  • Monitor, approve and submit faculty payroll 

  • Monitor and approve department budget 

  • Responsible for SAP, Semester Student Advising, Graduate, Drops, Leave of Absence and Academic Interrupts. 

  • Assist the Admissions department with incoming new students 

  • Confirm and ensure that faculty are in place for new term teaching assignment 

  • Participate in the start week for new student orientation 

  • Welcome new students and monitor them throughout first term. 

  • Hold monthly faculty meetings 

  • Update the quarterly Institutional Effectiveness campus master plan.

  • Ensure accreditation standards are being met.

  • Organize and Attend Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings

  • Attend Departmental Faculty Meetings

  • Complete faculty evaluations for all faculty regardless of employment status

  • Review Annual Faculty Development Plan/Progress Reports for all faculty

  • Maintain attrition rate of 4% or lower 

  • Assist and monitor Institutional Effectiveness goals, such as surveys and assessments 

  •  * Meet and exceed student satisfaction goals* Complete an Annual Faculty Development Plan/Progress Reports (for self)

The Dean of Academic Affairs must have a Master's degree however a Doctorate is preferred. Must also have academic experience.

This is a full time position that requires day, evening and weekend availability.
