Position Summary:

To provide student focused leadership for the Student Services area at Walters State Community College.  To provide guidance in the area of Affirmative Action dealing with campus, student and faculty investigations, and all concerns dealing with diversity. To assist in fulfilling the College’s mission of increasing the educational attainment and/or the workforce development of resident’s in our service area.

 Typical Duties and Responsibilities:  

A.    Provide leadership, direction and policy formation for the areas that report to Student Services. Including analyzing and investigating issues not limited to student discipline and Title IX as they pertain to policy and procedures.

B.    Provide leadership for the development and strengthening of student support services with regards to disability, testing and counseling and diversity issues. 

C.    Provide leadership for professional development for student services staff.

D.    Provide leadership for the development and maintenance of a holistic College environment conducive to learning.

E.     Work collaboratively with various areas within the College and community to provide additional opportunities for growth of Walters State students including educational planning, testing and interview processes.   

F.     Primarily responsible for conducting all discipline cases and assisting with Title IX and other student issues as needed.

G.    Responsible for supervising programming designed to build community on the various Walters State campuses.

E.   Demonstrated ability to prepare and present reports effectively.

F.   Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and evaluate a staff of professional and administrative personnel.

G.  Demonstrated ability to promote student success.

H.  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse campus and community constituent groups.

 I.    Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and exercise sound judgment.

 Required qualifications:

  A.    Master’s Degree in Education, Business, Leadership, Law or related field from an accredited college or university (Doctorate preferred).

   B.  Demonstrated a minimum of five years of work experience in higher education in an administrative or supervisory capacity with evidence of progressively increasing responsibility.

   C.  Demonstrated minimum of five years of work experience in the areas of student discipline, behavioral intervention/threat assessment, and Title IX.

   D.  Demonstrated work experience in student programming and campus activities.  

 Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate in Education, Business, Leadership, Law or related field from an accredited college or university.

 Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

The primary job location is the college's main campus in Morristown, TN.  Some travel throughout the college's ten county service area is required.

 Significant use of the telephone, personal computer, mobile devices and other standard office equipment is required.
