 Position Summary:

 The Dean of Student Services provides leadership in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive student services program. Oversees the office of Outreach and Admissions, New Student Orientation, Evening and Weekend Services, Visitor and Information Centers, and Dual Credit Student Services functions. Is responsible for student recruitment, the admissions process and relationships with our ISD and charter school partners. Collaborates with other LSC administrators, faculty, and staff to provide service to students and serve as their advocate. Work is evaluated by the Vice President of Student Success in terms of desired outcomes and goals achieved.

 Job Functions:

  1. Lead the Student Services department by developing department goals, objectives and long-range planning, as well as well as oversee all department staffing and provide professional development to new and existing staff

  2. Make decisions concerning policies and procedures; serve as student advocate at LSC meetings

  3. Evaluate and improve services to students

  4. Direct outreach, admissions and new student services process; prepare and present related reports

  5. Maintain an accessible program in which students can receive support and advice throughout the admissions process

  6. Provide support to the Financial Aid office as needed

  7. Represent The College and the division when meeting with local ISD’s and charter school partners

  8. Support outreach and recruitment by corresponding with prospective students and programming events which introduce them to LSC-UP

  9. Develop a comprehensive enrollment management strategy focused on new and returning students

  10. Collaborate on the design of marketing material geared toward prospective students and the dual credit population

  11. Enforce college policies and procedures, help create a safe and pleasant learning environment

  12. Develop, plan and coordinate special projects involving student services

  13. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

Physical Abilities:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.



Work Schedule & Conditions:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows

  • environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment

  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position

  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
