The College of Business at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is accepting applications for an Assistant Dean. As a member of the College of Business’s senior management team, the Assistant Dean of Academic and Career Development provides visionary leadership and strategic direction of the College’s academic advising, student engagement, enrollment management, and career and professional development initiatives for undergraduate students. This individual oversees the student success teams to ensure that all programs and services offered are innovative, comprehensive, coordinated, and delivered at a high level in order to meet student outreach, success, and retention goals.

The Assistant Dean directly supervises and collaborates with the leaders of the Business Career Center (BCC), Business Advising and Student Engagement (BASE), and College of Business Enrollment Management services to provide 28+ full-time professionals with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to serve students, alumni, employers, faculty, and staff effectively. This position coordinates data collection, analysis, and reporting of recruiting, student success, and retention outcomes to make data-driven decisions impacting recruitment, academic advising, student engagement, and career and professional development. The Assistant Dean builds strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote the scope and impact of services provided to students in the College of Business. This individual participates in College of Business management team meetings and other committees, and represents the College of Business within and outside the College and University on matters related to student recruitment, success, and retention.

The College of Business, established in 1913, moved into a new 240,000 square foot, $84 million dollar state-of-the-art building in the fall of 2017. Its undergraduate program, consisting of 11 majors and 4 campus-wide minors, is ranked 44th by US News and World Report and its MBA program was ranked 8th by Poet & Quants in 2019. Required Qualifications
Requires a Master’s degree plus a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in higher education, specifically in academic advising or career services. Five years of supervisory experience hiring, training, developing, and leading professional staff in a fast-paced work environment essential. Must have excellent decision-making, strategic planning, budgeting, and assessment skills. Ability to build strong relationships with diverse internal and external constituencies required. Proficiency with campus information systems required.

Preferred Qualifications
A doctorate or terminal degree in business, education, student affairs, or a related field of study. Evidence of experience leading a team to develop and achieve the elements of a strategic plan. Proven ability to make data-driven decisions.
