Assistant to the Dean - School of Business

This is a full-time Staff Assistant position as Assistant to the Dean of the School of Business. The individual in this position will:

  • Update and maintain the School of Business website (content management) and coordinate the maintenance of the School's 6 constituent departments' websites.

  • Serve as the primary point to collect information on faculty, staff and student accomplishments and ongoing work, programs, and new initiatives in the School, and to summarize and communicate this information to campus constituencies through the School website and the School newsletter.

  • Use social network media such as Facebook, Twitter, and other vehicles to communicate and publicize School of Business programs and events.

  • Assist the Dean's office in recruitment and administration of the New York State Assembly and Senate Legislative Session Assistants and Internship programs.

  • Conduct research on a wide range of curricular matters and draft preliminary reports on these issues.

  • Undertake and assist Dean and Assistant Dean on other School of Business related issues as necessary.

  • Coordinate the School of Business speakers program and research colloquia.

  • Assist with and coordinate with faculty, staff, alumni and external partners on the School's Business Plan Competition, and other special programs arising out of the Dean's office including working with campus and off-campus facilities offices, catering services and outside providers.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Professional Communications or related field with some knowledge of social media, public relations, website administration, or event management.


  • One or more years of related work experience.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Valid NYS Driver’s License.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time UUP position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Wednesday, August 14, 2019 and ending Tuesday, August 27, 2019, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

  • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Thursday, September 12, 2019

  • Salary $43,000/year, may increase commensurate with experience
