Job Description Summary

The Associate Dean of Student Success and Engagement reports directly to the Dean and will provide decisive leadership, creative thought and innovative skill-sets to drive recruitment and retention practices at the college. The Associate Dean will bring sound judgement and high-level organization to Student Affairs. The function of this role is grounded in student development and is responsible for organization, strategic planning, systemic implementation, review, and analysis of the College’s student support services and TRiO programs.  The Associate Dean serves as an integral member of the Student Affairs team, and works closely with colleagues in Student Engagement and Leadership, Wellness Center, Veteran Services, and Disability Support Services to develop a comprehensive scope of programs and services to increase student engagement and completion.
The Associate Dean will provide supervision in the absence and at the direction of the Dean.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in education, education administration, educational leadership, counseling, social science discipline or a related area is required. 
  2. Four years of experience in program administration, staff supervision, program evaluation, and budget management required.  
  3. Previous experience working in an educational program with first-generation, low-income students and their families is required.  
  4. Must have supervised personnel and administered programs directly related to the professional area for a minimum of three years.

  • Supervise the development, success and compliance of the following support programs: Vocational Support Services, Diverse Male Student Initiatives, Student Support Services, Upward Bound, Women of Wisdom, GEER Advisors, and PBI Grant.
  • Ability to foster a highly inclusive and collaborative work environment for students and personnel. Proven track of successfully generating change and advancing student success model aligned with persistence programs.
  • Data proficient, data fluent and keen ability to multitask and offer supports in a fast-paced environment.
  • Facilitates the development and implementation of all aspects of each of the grants under Student Support and TRiO Programs.
  • Administers and manages grant budgets in accordance with College policy and in compliance with requirements and regulations of the funding agencies.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of full-time and part time personnel supervised by program directors and managers in Student Support & TRiO Programs.
  • Develops and coordinates in-service training for Student Support and TRiO staff to provide a student-centered, customer-oriented environment for delivery of programs and services to a diverse community of students.
  • Works closely with the other departments in Student Affairs to develop a coordinated and complementary set of student services and programs that promote academic progression and career readiness.
  • Supervises student outreach efforts to promote systemic services aligned with areas under your purview.
  • Ensures the validity and accuracy of student eligibility for grant programs as defined by the grantor; supervises the awarding process of grant aid and retention assistance.
  •  Manages and oversees timely implementation of strategies to achieve Student Support and TRiO Programs goals and objectives.
  •  Communicates project goals and objectives to the College community, campus administrators, faculty, and students.
  •  Ensures widespread dissemination of Student Support and TRiO Program information to potential participants.
  • Develops and implements continual assessment plan to insure monitoring of grant/project goals, objectives and student performance.
  • Serves on campus and college-wide committees.
  •  Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  1. Must be available to work Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work schedule subject to change based on the needs of the department. 
  2. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  3. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
