Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA).  The Campus Dean of Student Affairs is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the system of services, programs, and experiences designed to support student access, recruitment, success, retention, and completion. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performance Requirements*
  • Monitors and oversees the implementation of Student Affairs programs, services, and experiences for their assigned campus
  • Coordinates the evaluation and program review of student affairs areas
  • Works in coordination with the VPSA team to bring about significant and measurable improvements in programs, services, and student experiences
  • Enforces student conduct as outlined in the Student Handbook
  • Makes recommendations to the team of Vice Presidents regarding student violations of college regulations
  • Makes recommendations to changes in relevant policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Investigates and oversees the student appeals process related to student complaints of the areas/employees supervises
  • Collaborates with the relevant members of the Student Affairs team in the preparation/revising of the Student Handbook
  • Implements, evaluates, and monitors enrollment strategies
  • Collaborates regularly with academic affairs colleagues, campus, and other College stakeholders
General Supervision and Management
  • Leads and supervises the work of the directors and coordinators of the Student Affairs department such as (Admissions/Registrar, Records, Financial Aid, Health Services, Career Services, Intercultural Network, Student Conduct and Title IX, Behavioral Intervention/CARE Team, Student Activities, Testing Services, Advising & Counseling, Student Accessibility Resources, Transfer Center, TRIO Programs (Student Support Services and Upward Bound), Prevention Education, support for student basic needs (e.g., food pantries, student emergency assistance fund, Family Empowerment Center) and Veterans Resource Center) on their assigned campus
  • Provides leadership for programs affecting student success, cultivating creative approaches to providing student services, programs, experiences, and initiatives 
  • Participates in leadership team meetings on assigned campus
Service Excellence
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation, and creativity and service to the College
  • Supports the mission, values, and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

* Performs other related tasks as required

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

  • Master’s degree
  • Three (3) years of administrative experience in Student Services and/or Student Development within an academic environment
  • Three (3) years of experience supervising (e.g., managing, evaluating the performance of others; leading projects or processes)

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

  • Doctorate degree
  • An understanding of and commitment to the open access policy and philosophy of the comprehensive community college
  • Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of the students we serve and sensitivity to historically underrepresented groups

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse and urban
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables
  • Ability to use computer applications and enterprise systems, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with diverse populations
