Since the establishment of our Psychological Clinic in 1929 and the school’s founding in 1974, we have become the “gold standard” in the education and training of qualified and competent direct-service psychologists. The mission of GSAPP is threefold: education, research/scholarship, and public service. Its goal is to prepare well-educated, qualified, and competent direct-service psychologists who have a special commitment to direct community involvement and to underserved populations—professionals who can integrate scientific knowledge with innovation in the delivery of psychological services to individuals, families, groups, and organizations. Professionals receiving a doctoral degree in psychology should be capable of extending psychological knowledge and exhibiting the high level of analytic skills and theoretical understanding needed to use existing and emerging psychological knowledge.

Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Dean II for Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology(GSAPP)- Dean’s Office. The position leads efforts and envisions new directions for growth at the GSAPP in the areas of DEI and community engagement. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Supports efforts to further the school’s mission to be an organization that is relevant, inclusive, and responsive to all people ensuring that the school can think, act, and engage most effectively with attention to global, national and local matters, from a perspective of multicultural competence.
- Provides leadership and vision, administration, and coordination of efforts across the GSAPP leadership team.
- Engages with graduate students, staff, faculty, and alumni, and works closely with leadership from other teams at the University, including Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Doctoral Studies, Faculty Affairs, Enrollment Management, Career Development, the Research Office, Development and Alumni Affairs, and Strategic Communications to coordinate support for students, alumni, staff, and faculty.
