Stanford University School of Medicine sets the training ground for the next generation of biomedical leaders and pioneers.  Reporting to the Dean of MD Admissions for Stanford Medicine, this position requires a strong tactical leader with a strategic approach to MD Admissions processes to attract a talented and diverse body of MD students.  

The Associate Dean and Executive Director of MD Admissions has overarching responsibilities for leading and managing all operational aspects of the MD Admissions process, from initial outreach to matriculation. Specifically, the Associate Dean and Executive Director will design, implement, and maintain all programs, policies, and systems that support student admissions. This role also manages the human resources, administrative, and logistical support for the office and works alongside the Dean of MD Admissions in strategic planning, program development, and funding outreach.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree highly desired; PhD recommended
  • 8 or more years of experience managing an admissions office, preferably MD admissions
  • Experience in grant writing
  • Experience in data analysis
  • Experience in full-cycleproject management
  • Experience in program development
  • Supervisory experience

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): 

Bachelor’s degree and ten years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.  Experience in higher education setting strongly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • User knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and all levels of management.
  • Strong analytical skills to review and analyze complex financial information.
  • Strong leadership and strategic management skills.
  • Experience managing people.
  • Understanding of underlying technological needs and requirements.
  • Ability to establish credibility and effective working relationships across organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated experience with significant and complex budgetary /financial management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally use a telephone.
  • Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
