The Mission of Brevard Academy is to prepare its students to achieve academic excellence through the Core Knowledge Sequence. Through a partnership involving students, teachers, and parents the school strives to create citizens with strong moral character and active intellectual inquiry.

Job Description


Reports To: School Director


Terms of Employment: 10 Months


Qualifications: A valid North Carolina Teaching Certificate in the appropriate area.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Directors may find appropriate and acceptable.


Purpose: Reporting to the School Director, the Dean of Student Services is an essential part of the leadership team, responsible for working closely with students, teachers, and parents to maintain a positive school culture that promotes academic growth and character enrichment.


General Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary support for . Student discipline and behavior management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Afterschool Director
  • Responsible for carrying out duties as assigned by the School Director.
  • Work with the School Director to coordinate and supervise daily operations of the school.


Student Activities

  • Annually reviews the Family Handbook
  • Plans monthly events to promote school Code of Behavior.
  • Plans semi-Annual instructional events.
  • Helps to coordinate and plan Student Activities and Maintains Activity Calendar
    • Field Trips
    • Community Service Activities
    • Whole School Events


Discipline/Behavior Responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture that establishes procedures which protect staff instructional time and encourage an atmosphere of learning and academic excellence.
  • Provide proactive support to teachers, students and parents to maintain high behavioral expectations.
  • Serve as point person for discipline issues in all grade levels, maintain efficient system to track student behavior and consequences.


  • Identify and create professional development resources focused on behavioral systems and procedures.
  • Be present during grade level meetings as needed.
  • Implement technology restrictions for disciplinary reasons.


Buses

  • Handle the administrative tasks associated with buses and student assignment.
  • Ensure compliance to all state and local policies.


Other

  • Work with staff to ensure uniform compliance.
  • Responsible for assisting with staff development relating to technology use in the classroom.
  • Be present during school activities and functions, including sporting events, parent nights and student performances.
  • Serve as a member of the Safety and Discipline Committees.
  • Other duties as assigned by the School Director.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 successful years of teaching
