Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, this leadership position is responsible for leadership in planning, organizing, administering, and evaluating non-credit instruction and services for the campus. The Division of Community Education is comprised of two institutes: Career and College Preparation, and Personal Enrichment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Performance Requirements*
  • Promotes, leads, and manages all aspects of day-to-day operations associated with community education programs and services, including the selection, training, and supervision of faculty, staff, and student employees
  • Builds collaborative relationships with other deans and faculty to ensure the alignment of college preparation courses with academic program offerings
  • Develops, implements, and assesses strategies to improve the quality and effectiveness of non-credit programs and services
  • Works with credit programs and the educational outreach department to provide a seamless transition from non-credit courses to credit programs
  • Cultivates expanded revenue opportunities for the division
  • Assesses the needs of the community to identify educational, civic, recreational, and cultural opportunities for service
  • Oversees the development, administration, delivery and assessment of programs and services provided in response to identified needs
  • Develops collaborative partnership with community leaders and organization to maintain and manage the provided learning opportunities
  • Serves as an advocate and community resource
  • Keeps up to date on trends and developments in community engagement that relates to the communities served
  • Recruits, mentors, and manages the performance of qualified staff
  • Employs qualified instructors with the knowledge or skills specific to their topic of instruction
  • Maintains strong working relationships with College academic faculty and leaders
  • Confers and plans with student recruitment staff to implement activities that effectively support the College’s recruitment efforts
  • Accumulates and analyzes data and develops reports demonstrating the effectiveness of program and services provided

General Supervision and Management
  • Develops and implements standards and procedures that ensure consistent daily operations and compliance with College related policies
  • Directs the marketing efforts to increase awareness and to promote programs and services to the community
  • Works collaboratively with academic and student development personnel and external partners to develop and provide quality instruction and service in response to identified needs
  • Recruits, mentors, and manages the performance of qualified staff
  • Employs qualified instructors with the knowledge or skills specific to their topic of instruction

Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations
  • Demonstrates continued professional growth as evidenced by involvement in the professional associations and continuing education
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
  • Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College*Performs other related tasks as required

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree
• Five (5) years of progressive and relevant experience in a higher education or non-profit organization
• One (1) year of experience supervising employees (e.g., managing and evaluating performance of others)

Preferred Qualifications

· Demonstrated experience leading entrepreneurial and innovative initiatives
· Leadership in creating unique pathways to and through a college for community members
· Proficiency in developing and delivering non-credit programs and services for school age children, adults, seniors, and other target populations
· Experience in organizing community members and groups to find opportunities resolve concerns using community-based solutions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Effective organizational skills with attention to detail
· Expert customer service and interpersonal skills
· Detailed knowledge of leadership, communication, and self-reflective principles, with the ability to teach these concepts to others
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization
· Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables.
· Ability to use computer applications and enterprise systems, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
· Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with diverse populations
