Description
Supports the Dean for Business, Technology, and Human Services in the leadership and supervision of faculty and staff; coordinates divisional activities and initiatives; is responsible in assisting the Dean in the organization, administration, and general effectiveness of the courses within the division; provides direct oversight and supervision of Early Childhood Education, Education, Economics, Business, Accounting, Agriculture/Horticulture and Law Enforcement, and Information Technology programs.
Examples of Duties
A. Assists Dean in the day-to-day operations of the division; is responsible for conducting and planning the monthly Divisional meetings; is responsible for the promotion, organization, coordination, scheduling and evaluation of the courses and curricula of the division; assists in course and curriculum development of assessment; is responsible for the coordination of recruitment activities.
B. Responsible for leading and mentoring non-tenured faculty members throughout the tenure process, in collaboration with the Dean.
C. Participates on screening committees for the selection of all full and part-time instructional and staff positions within the division; performs other duties as assigned by the Dean and//or VPAA.
D. Reviews and monitors the annual budget for the operation of the division and programs in collaboration with the Dean; approves expenditures as appropriate; assists the Dean in grant management.
E. Recommends the schedules of classes and instructor assignments for the Division to the Dean.
F. Serves on College committees as assigned by the Dean.
G. Collaborates with the Dean and program coordinators to ensure advisory committees meet on a regular basis and minutes are disseminated appropriately, including to the VPAA.
H. Monitors student enrollment, retention, and success to create positive change for the division; makes recommendations to increase student retention to the program coordinators, Dean and VPAA.
I. Assists the Dean with faculty and student issues as directed, responding appropriately and in a timely fashion.
J. May have a teaching assignment which equals no more than 7 ECH during each academic semester.
Minimum Qualifications
A. Master’s degree required.
B. Qualified to teach in one of the following areas: Business, Technology and Human Services programs of study.
C. Two years of teaching experience in a related field preferred.
D. At least 2,000 hours of documented work experience required in area of teaching.
E. Grant management experience preferred.
F. Qualified candidate must have excellent reading, writing, and computation skills as well as be computer literate.
